EMINEM APPEARED IN KORN'S "GOT THE LIFE" VIDEO BEFORE HE WAS FAMOUS

Munky remembers rapper handing him demo during shoot
Korn Eminem Got the Life Video Split

Before the world knew him as the real Slim Shady, Eminem was standing up in the back of a Korn music video. That's right: Before Marshall Mathers took over the world and became one of the most popular musicians of the 21st century, he made a brief cameo as a vibing partygoer in the nu-metal band's "Got the Life" clip.

As Loudwire points out, the future "Stan" rapper can be seen at the end of the iconic "Got the Life" video, which was released in 1998 and quickly became one of the most requested videos in MTV's TRL history — indeed, the clip was famously "retired" from just one year later when it was deemed overplayed. The video shoot went down roughly a year before Eminem would release his groundbreaking 1999 debut, The Slim Shady LP, so at that time he was a relative nobody scraping by on the underground circuit.

The rapper's face is only visible for a few seconds in the last part of the vid, but his presence on the set apparently left a memorable impression on Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, who recalled speaking with Eminem that day while reflecting back during a 2014 interview.

"There were some extras on the set of our video 'Got the Life,'" Munky remembered. "Some kid came up to me and gave me his demo. I was really drunk and I was like [out of it]. He's like, 'Hey, check it out, I'm a rapper.' I'm like, 'I'm just a guitar player.' It turned out that kid that was on our video was Eminem. He was an extra in that video. I vaguely remember that happening."

"Thanks a lot, man," guitarist Brian "Head" Welch jokingly responded. "We could've been billionaires. We could've signed him before Dre."

Eminem wasn't the only famous figure who appeared on the set that day. Fred Durst, Wes Borland and Sam Rivers of Limp Bizkit, Orgy's Jay Gordon, rapper WC and former UFC fighter Tito Ortiz also made cameos in the "Got the Life" video, but Eminem's appearance is particularly notable for how unknown the soon-to-be superstar was at the time.

Check out a slowed-down clip of his appearance below and then try and spot him in the full "Got the Life" video after the jump.
